Despite your best efforts, maintaining your well-being in this busy world can be challenging. But, you are not stuck in bad behavior forever. You have the power to create the life you want to live. Good habits happen when you set yourself up for success. Here are a few simple hacks for creating healthy habits.
1- Create the Right Environment
Organize your context to make it easy to repeatedly do the same thing. Our actions and habits are driven by our surroundings.
You can get there from here.
2- Start Small
Big changes require a high level of motivation that can’t be sustained. Starting with tiny changes makes picking up a new habit easier.
One time does not make a habit. Commit and do it long and consistently enough so it “takes”.
4- Make It Easy
Clear the obstacles that stand in your way. We are very sensitive to the forces that stand in our way. Don’t use it as a reason not to start.
You will have some small successes along the way. Reward yourself for incremental progress. Taking time to celebrate what you’ve already achieved will motivate you.
A poorly nourished brain lacks energy and the vital nutrients for cognitive functioning. As the day passes it will become more difficult to make good choices.
Use an existing habit to cue the new behavior. This is more successful than relying on willpower alone.
8- Look at Each Day as a New Chance
Embrace the process and not the end result. Whether you had a good or bad day the day before, focus only on your goals for the new day.
